DESCRIPTION
Awning window comes in both double and triple glazed options. Much like casement windows, they are commonly called crank windows, since they are opened using a cranking mechanism. They are one of the most energy efficient options, utilizing a scissor hinge to open the window from the bottom. Depending on the options selected, our Awning Windows are capable of achieving an ER value of 36 and are suitable in both residential and light commercial applications.
You’ve seen them and probably even used them too, as they are the type of window that is hinged on the bottom of a window frame and then cranked out to the top. They can be opened to the exterior of your home and be wide open or you can stop cranking at any time to have them open an inch, four inches or whatever you need on the particular day. Wherever you stop the crank is where they will sit until such times as you crank them back to the closed position. So, yes, they need a crank or a handle to use. You simply unlock the window and then use the handle to get it to the required position.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Just past the brush seal there are two more seals called bulb seals, they are used to create suction between the sash and the main frame to prevent water and wind from coming into the home.
